Worthy Sirs  

 I have spoken to Our Worthy State Deputy Ben Davidson and Our Worthy Master, Gerard Thomas, and FN Kenneth Schatzle of Assy 323, about having an Honor Guard for the “Special Olympics”, State Summer Games, Opening Ceremony, in Hammond , At 7PM on May 22nd, this year. All of them are in favor of this and are helping to get it going. I am now inquiring of you, now if you can supply any help also. We need all the Fourth Degree Knights that can show up with Regalia to participate. You can contact Kenneth Schatzle ( Host FN ) at 225-294-3434, he does not have e-mail address. You can also contact me also anytime you need any information concerning Special Olympics.
 

In the 40 years that Special Olympics has been in the State of La, no one can remember there been any “Honor Guard” done at a State Summer Game, “Opening Ceremony” Parade of Athletes. My Brothers, this is when all the Athletes and Coaches from across the State (about 700), enter the Stadium ahead of the Torch Run and the Lighting of the Olympic Torch, thereby Opening the Games.
 

When enough Knights in Regalia are lined up to greet these Athletes as they enter, it presents an awesome view. Please pass this on and if possible, Please attempt to be there. I was present when almost 800 Knights did it for the 1st. National Games in Ames, Iowa in 2006. That my Brothers, was a sight to behold.
 

I have enclosed several inserts with Instructions and Directions and also a map of the Campus. Feel free to contact me if you need any more information. Also, let me know how many are going if possible.
 

Another way that we can show our support for these Athletes, is just to be there in the Stadium, cheering them on. These are my Kids and your Kids, Lets support them anyway we can. Encourage your Friends and Families to go also. Believe me you won’t regret it.
