Father Fabre led us in the opening prayer followed by The Pledge of Allegiance and The Knights’ Oath. The meal was Brisket and Gravy, served with fresh rolls, and soft drinks with assorted cookies for desert. There were approximately 20 Knights at this meeting.
Past Grand Knight Duhon made mention of the fact that Herman Comeaux has expressed the desire to join our ranks along with Clyde Boudreaux. Alan LaSalle motioned to accept Brother Comeaux. The motion was seconded by Nelson Zerangue. The motion was put to a vote, & carried unanimously. Welcome to Council 12997 Brother Comeaux. Glad to have you with us! Clyde Boudreaux’s desire to join us is in the making.
A 1st Degree was held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church on 2/26. Two Squires, Josh Racca and Chester Derouen will either have made or will soon be making their First Degree. According to my notes, Squire Racca is tentatively scheduled to make his 1st Degree on 3/22. Squire Derouen will have become a First Degree Knight effective 2/01/2009. Congratulations gentlemen and Welcome to you both.
Deputy Jerry LaSalle made it known that a 2nd & 3rd Degree will be held at Perpetual Help in March (2009).
Our Inaugural First Sunday of the Month Pancake Breakfast, put on by our Council - FREE of charge to any & all, was a success. Thank you goes out to all Brother Knights that helped to make it so and in particular to our Worthy Grand Knight, Brother Lionel Louviere whom I understand was Head Chef. The Blood Drive went well with 30 units of blood being collected. These unselfish acts do much to help save many lives and should never be taken lightly or for granted. Thank you to all that donated this gift of Life.
We participated in the Gumbo Cookoff held at St. Thomas Moore. Although our team comprised of Mike Degeteyer, Alan LaSalle, Wayne Duhon Jr & Gaston Broussard did very well and did finish in Second Place. Congratulations men.
There will be a State Convention on 5-1-09 in Shreveport.
A Rosary was scheduled for Oscar Molbert on or about 2/17 at 6:00 PM
Chaplain Report: NONE! Chancellor’s Report – NONE!
Treasurer’s Report given by Brother Harold Tauzin. Alan LaSalle motioned to accept the report. This motion was seconded by Nelson Zerangue and went to a vote which carried unanimously.
Financial Secretary Report given – stated that figures are in agreement with the Treasurer’s Report.
We had to vote again on whether or not to donate funds for the Golf Tournament. As such we voted a second time and this passed unanimously. A check was made out and presented to Father Fabre for that purpose.
There was a motion made to donate $100 to the Angola Prison Ministry. The motion was seconded, went to a vote and passed unanimously.

I’d like to remind everyone about trying to attend First Friday Mass as a group. This is for the 6:30 AM Mass however there is a Rosary recited prior to Mass so please try to attend and to wear your Knights of Columbus shirts.
Also, the Pancake Breakfast will be held this Sunday, 03/08/09 after the 7:00 AM Mass. This is FREE to all. Please try to attend and spread the word.
